Food Photography Tips for Your Bali Cooking Class
Your cooking class in Bali will produce Instagram-worthy moments. Here are tips for capturing the best photos without missing the cooking experience.
A Bali cooking class is incredibly photogenic - vibrant spices, tropical ingredients, hands-on cooking action, and beautifully plated final dishes. Here are tips for capturing great photos without being glued to your phone.
Best moments to photograph: The ingredient display at the start (arranged colorfully by the chef), the mortar and pestle grinding (action shot), charcoal grilling (smoke and flames), the finished plated dishes (your masterpiece), and the communal table dining scene.
Smartphone tips: Use natural light whenever possible (our open-air kitchens have plenty). Shoot from above for flat-lay ingredient shots. Get close for texture details on spice pastes and grilled foods. Use portrait mode for people-focused cooking shots.
The golden rule: cook first, photograph second. Your chef will plate the finished dishes beautifully for photos, so you don't need to document every step. Focus on 3-4 key moments rather than trying to photograph everything.
In our cooking classes, the chef is happy to hold ingredients or arrange dishes for your photos. For the Couples Cooking Experience, the chef actively takes photos of you both cooking together - you do not need to worry about capturing these moments yourself.
